Meet the Filmmaker
Shatifah Carter is an independent filmmaker, writer, producer, and director known for powerful storytelling and bold creative vision. Born and raised in Chicago, she began her filmmaking journey over seven years ago and wrote and directed her first feature film, Circles Vol 1, at the age of 27. Following its strong streaming success, she went on to write and produce The Boxxx, which won Movie of the Year at the Tampa Film Festival in 2023. Shatifah later transitioned to Los Angeles, where she wrote, produced, and directed Snatched, a film highlighting the realities of child trafficking. She has recently completed her fourth feature film, Scheming, written, produced, and directed by Shatifah Carter, set for release in February 2026. With projects spanning Chicago and Los Angeles, Shatifah continues to grow as one of the strongest independent filmmakers emerging from Chicago.
